How to make Grits in 3 ways:

Ingredients
- ●1 cup grits
- ●4 cups water
- ●1 cup heavy cream
- ●1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

- ●1/2 tsp salt
- ●1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- 1In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- 2Add 1/2 tsp salt to the boiling water.
- 3Gradually whisk in 1 cup of grits, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- 4Reduce heat to low and cover the saucepan. Cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the grits are thick and creamy.
- 5Once the grits are cooked, stir in 1 cup of heavy cream and 1/4 cup of unsalted butter until well combined.
- 6Add 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and stir until melted and creamy.
- 7Season with 1/4 tsp black pepper to taste.
- 8Serve hot as a side dish or base for shrimp or other toppings.

- 1In a large bowl, combine the cooked grits, cheddar cheese, cornmeal, flour, green onions, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- 2In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg until well combined.
- 3Pour the buttermilk mixture into the grit mixture and stir until everything is evenly combined.
- 4Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour to firm up.
- 5Once chilled, scoop out portions of the mixture and shape them into small cakes or patties.
- 6Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- 7Carefully place the grit cakes in the hot oil and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- 8Remove the grit cakes from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- 9Serve warm as a side dish or appetizer.
