Pour water into the pot to cover the ingredients with about 2-3 fingers, then boil the soup for about 15 minutes.

Reduce the temperature to a minimum, put the potatoes in the pot, add more water if necessary and boil the sour cabbage soup with smoked pork for 30 minutes or until all the ingredients are tender.
