Today, it enjoys global popularity, with variations found in many cultures, making it a versatile accompaniment to various dishes.
all-purpose flour

Sourdough adds flavor, while baking powder is a quick alternative.
Crumble ½ cube of yeast into a tall vessel.
Pour in 150 milliliters of lukewarm water.
Add 1 tablespoon of sugar and stir until dissolved.
Add 300 grams of flour into a mixing bowl.
Pour in the yeast-water mixture.
Add 1 teaspoon of salt and a good dash of olive oil.
Knead using hands or a food processor for about 4-5 minutes until smooth.
If the dough seems too dry, add another dash of olive oil and continue kneading.
Form a ball of dough and rub it with olive oil.
Cover with a kitchen towel and let rest for about 30-45 minutes until doubled in volume.
Place the dough onto the countertop without flour.
Cut the dough into 4 equal pieces and form balls.
Roll out each ball with a rolling pin to about 15-20 centimeters wide.
Lay them on a lined baking tray with some distance between each.
Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
