1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup boiling water
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 unbaked pie crust

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.

Cut in the softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

In a separate bowl, mix the molasses, boiling water, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Pour the molasses mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Pour half of the batter into the unbaked pie crust.

Sprinkle the crumb mixture (from the first step) over the batter in the pie crust.

Pour the remaining batter over the crumb topping.
