1 medium butternut squash
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup maple syrup (optional)

Cut the butternut squash in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds.

Place the squash halves cut-side up on a baking sheet.

If using, drizzle maple syrup over the squash for added sweetness.
