Juice 3 lemons and coat the sliced apples in lemon juice to prevent browning.
Peel, core, and slice 3 Granny Smith apples thinly.
In a non-stick skillet, melt about 1 tablespoon of butter per apple, using 4 tablespoons total for 3 apples.
Add the sliced apples to the skillet and coat them in the melted butter.
Sprinkle in organic dark brown sugar and a heaping teaspoon of cinnamon, along with a pinch of salt.
Mix the apples with the sugar and cinnamon until they start to soften and a sauce forms.
Cover the skillet and cook the apples on medium-high heat for about 4 minutes until they begin to soften.
Prepare a cornstarch slurry by mixing cornstarch with water.
After 4 minutes, add the cornstarch slurry to the apples to thicken the sauce.
Add about 1 tablespoon of maple syrup to the mixture and stir well.
Continue cooking until the apples are soft, resembling a homemade applesauce.
