Charcuterie and Cheese Board
Cultural Context
The charcuterie and cheese board has its roots in French cuisine, where charcuterie refers to the art of preparing cured meats. Traditionally, these boards were a way to showcase local meats and cheeses, often served at celebrations or gatherings. Today, they have become a popular choice for entertaining, allowing hosts to display a variety of flavors and textures. Modern variations often include an eclectic mix of accompaniments, making them a versatile and appealing option for any occasion.

Place flour, yeast, and sugar in a bowl of an electric mixer and whisk to combine.
Stir 2 tablespoons of olive oil with water and add it to the flour mixture, mixing until the flour is completely moistened. Set aside for about five minutes.
Add 2 tablespoons of coarse sea salt and knead on medium speed for about 5 minutes.
Transfer the dough into an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap and a kitchen towel, and let it sit for about two hours or until it doubles in size.
After two hours, generously add olive oil to a baking tray, brushing the bottom and sides.
Transfer the dough to the tray, stretch it, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or up to 24 hours.
After 9 hours in the fridge, let the tray sit for about two hours to reach room temperature.
Drizzle more olive oil over the dough and make indentations, ensuring everything is nicely covered with olive oil.
Sprinkle more coarse sea salt on top of the dough.
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
Bake the focaccia in the oven for 25 to 27 minutes until nice and golden.
After baking, let the focaccia sit for about 10 minutes to cool.
Make five cavities in the focaccia using a cookie cutter and a knife.
Arrange black olives, sun dried tomatoes, and roasted red peppers in the cavities.
Roll sliced turkey and arrange it in a flower shape, then place it in one of the cavities.
Continue rolling and arranging the remaining meats and cheeses in the cavities.
