Soak 1 cup dry split fava beans in water for one day.
Drain the water and add the split fava beans to a food processor.
Add 2 ounces fresh cilantro, 1 yellow onion, 4 garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon ground coriander, 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin, sea salt, and black pepper to the food processor.
Blend until reaching the desired consistency.
Mix in 1/2 teaspoon baking soda right before frying.
Use an ice cream scoop to form even portions of the mixture.
Fry the portions in oil over medium high heat, being careful not to overcrowd the oil.
Remove the ta'ameya once the outside is crispy and brown.
