White rice is a staple in many cultures around the world, often served as a base for a variety of dishes. Its simplicity and versatility make it a comforting choice for meals, whether in Asian, Latin American, or Middle Eastern cuisines. While traditionally prepared in a pot, modern methods like rice cookers have made it easier to achieve perfectly cooked rice consistently.

Olive oil adds healthy fats while margarine is often less expensive.
Measure out 2 cups of long grain white rice.
Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a pot and toast the rice for about 1 minute until shiny.
Add 4 cups of cold water to the pot with the rice and stir to combine.
Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
Once boiling, cover the pot with a lid and reduce the heat to the lowest setting.
Set a timer for 20 minutes and let the rice cook undisturbed.
After 20 minutes, turn off the heat and let the rice sit covered for a few minutes.
To prevent sticky rice, place a clean kitchen towel over the pot to absorb excess moisture.
Fluff the rice with a fork or serving spoon to release steam and separate the grains.
