1

Add a little olive oil or vegetable oil to a saucepan.

2

Add finely minced garlic and diced onion to the saucepan.

3

Add brown sugar, kosher salt, black pepper, and a touch of cayenne to the saucepan.

4

Add 2 pounds of boneless skinless chicken thighs to the saucepan without cutting or trimming them.

5

Top the chicken with ketchup and dijon mustard.

6

Add Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce to the mixture.

7

Wait for the garlic to sizzle in the oil before adding liquid.

8

After about 30 seconds of sizzling garlic, add water or chicken broth.

9

Stir everything together, ensuring chicken pieces are below the surface.

10

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to medium low and simmer uncovered for about an hour and a half, stirring occasionally.

11

Check the chicken around the 45-minute to 1-hour mark to see if it's falling apart.

12

If the mixture gets too dry, add a splash of water or broth as needed.

13

After the chicken has fallen apart and the sauce has reduced, add freshly sliced green onions and diced green peppers.

14

Cook for another 5 minutes until the peppers are just barely tender.

15

Check for seasoning and adjust if necessary.

16

Remove from heat and serve on toasted and buttered hamburger buns.
