2.2 pounds pork shoulder steak
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 large onion, diced
1 red pepper, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
60 ml red wine (about 4 tablespoons)
3 tablespoons tomato puree (or tomato paste)
2 tablespoons sugar
2 bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
2 cans (14 ounces each) chopped tomatoes
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup (120 ml) chicken stock

Add 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the slow cooker.

Season 2.2 pounds of pork shoulder steak, chopped into large chunks, with 1/4 teaspoon each of salt and pepper.

Place the seasoned pork in the slow cooker and seal it on all sides.

Add 1 large diced onion to the slow cooker and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring a couple of times until the onion starts to soften.

Add 1 diced red pepper and 3 cloves of minced garlic, stir, and cook for a further 2 minutes.

Pour in 60 ml (about 4 tablespoons) of red wine and let it bubble down for a couple of minutes.

Add 3 tablespoons of tomato puree, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 2 bay leaves, 1/2 teaspoon each of dried oregano and thyme, 2 cans of chopped tomatoes, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, and 1/2 cup (120 ml) of chicken stock to the slow cooker.

Stir all the ingredients together and bring to a gentle simmer.

If cooked in a pan, transfer the mixture to the slow cooker now.

Cook on high for 4 to 5 hours or on low for 7 to 8 hours.

After cooking, discard the bay leaves and break apart the meat using a fork.
