Pistachio Koshari

Cultural Context

Koshari is a beloved Egyptian street food, originating in the 19th century as a filling meal for workers. It combines rice, lentils, pasta, and a spicy tomato sauce, topped with crispy onions and chickpeas. The addition of pistachios adds a unique twist, enhancing both flavor and texture. Today, Koshari is enjoyed not only in Egypt but also in various Middle Eastern countries, often adapted with local ingredients and spices.
