Easy Weeknight Meal: Classic Double Smash Burgers

Traditionally made by smashing a ball of ground beef onto a hot griddle, this technique creates a delicious crust while sealing in flavor. Today, smash burgers have gained popularity in home kitchens and gourmet burger joints alike, with variations that include different toppings and sauces.

Preheat the griddle.
Take 80/20 ground beef and season with Blackstone whiskey burger seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
Cut parchment paper into small squares to prevent sticking when smashing burgers.
Place beef patties on the preheated griddle and smash them down evenly using parchment paper.
Add a little salted butter around the edges of the patties to crisp them up.
Cook the patties for a couple of minutes until crispy around the edges.
Add American cheese on top of each patty and let it melt for a minute.
Take fresh burger buns from the deli and butter the insides.
Sprinkle everything but the bagel seasoning on the buttered buns and toast them on the griddle.
Add melted butter on top of the toasted buns and optionally sprinkle garlic powder and sesame seeds for extra crunch.
Remove the toasted buns from the griddle and spread special sauce on the bottom bun.
Layer with lettuce, sliced tomatoes, chopped onions, and the beef patties with melted cheese on top.
Add crunchy pickles and optional ketchup and mustard before topping with the other half of the bun.
Smash the burger down to enjoy.
