Olive oil reduces saturated fat and adds a different flavor.

Almond milk is lower in calories, while water can be used for a dairy-free option.
Heat 1/2 cup of milk until warm but not boiling.
Add 3 tbsp sugar, 2 tsp salt, and 3 tbsp butter (or margarine) to the warm milk and stir until melted.
Let the milk mixture cool down until it's not too hot.
Heat 1 1/2 cups of water in the microwave until lukewarm.
Pour the lukewarm water into a KitchenAid mixer with a dough hook attached.
Add 2 packages of yeast (or 2 tbsp yeast) to the water in the mixer.
Add 1 cup of flour to the mixer and mix briefly.
Add the milk mixture to the mixer and mix again.
Add a second cup of flour to the mixer and mix until combined.
Add a third cup of flour to the mixer and mix until combined.
Add a fourth cup of flour to the mixer and mix until combined.
Add a fifth cup of flour to the mixer and mix until combined.
Add about 1/4 cup more flour if needed, then mix until a dough ball forms.
Remove the dough from the mixer and place it in a greased bowl, spraying the top with cooking spray to prevent drying.
Cover the bowl with a dish towel and let the dough rise for 35 minutes until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough after it has risen.
