1

Sprinkle flaky smoked sea salt all over the bottom of a baking pan.

2

Add black pepper to the salt in the baking pan.

3

Prep the ribeye steak by letting it sit on the countertop for 15 minutes to take the chill off and pat it dry.

4

Place the steak on top of the salt and pepper mixture in the pan, then repeat the process for the top of the steak with salt and pepper.

5

Preheat a cast iron skillet until wisps of smoke start coming off the pan.

6

Add about 1 tablespoon of grapeseed oil to the skillet.

7

Add the ribeye steak to the skillet and cook for at least 3 minutes on the first side to get a good sear.

8

Turn the steak to the hotter part of the pan to ensure even cooking.

9

Add fresh thyme, rosemary, and garlic to the pan along with around 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter.

10

Continue to cook and baste the steak with the melted butter (basting is optional).

11

Shut off the heat and remove the steak from the pan, letting it rest on a plate, cutting board, or another baking sheet for at least 10 minutes.

12

Cut into the steak to show the doneness and serve.
