In a large bowl, add all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Whisk together and set aside.
In a separate bowl, cream together white sugar and room temperature butter until fluffy and light yellow.
Add eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition.
Add vanilla extract to the mixture.
Add half of the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix on low speed.
Pour in some milk and then add the remaining dry ingredients, mixing until combined.
Scrape the sides of the bowl to incorporate all ingredients and give a final mix.
Prepare the baking pan with baking spray or butter and flour.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
Bake at 350°F for about 30 to 35 minutes.
Let cool on a cooling rack.
