Season the stew meat with salt and black pepper.
Heat a skillet until hot and sear the stew meat in batches on both sides until browned.
Transfer the seared meat to the slow cooker.
Add one chopped small onion on top of the meat.
Add 16 ounces of sliced mushrooms to the slow cooker.
Press one clove of garlic into the slow cooker.
Pour in two cans of golden mushroom soup.
Add one tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce to the mixture.
Pour in three cups of beef broth.
Add two bay leaves to the slow cooker.
Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 5-6 hours until beef is tender.
Remove the bay leaves before serving.
Mix three tablespoons of cornstarch with 1/4 cup of water to create a slurry.
Stir the cornstarch slurry into the slow cooker to thicken the gravy 30 minutes before serving.
Serve over rice or mashed potatoes.
