Homemade gravy can be made with pantry staples.
Start with 1/2 cup of chicken drippings in a pot.
Add 1 cup of water to the drippings and bring to a boil.
Taste the mixture and season with garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt to taste.
In a separate bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of corn starch with a splash of water to create a slurry.
Reduce the heat to medium and slowly add the corn starch slurry to the boiling drippings while stirring to avoid lumps.
Continue heating until the gravy thickens to the desired consistency and set aside.
Fill a pot half full of water and bring it to a boil to cook corn.
Add 2 cups of frozen corn to the boiling water and cook until tender, then drain.
Peel and cut 5 lbs of potatoes into chunks, boil until fork tender, and drain.
In a large mixing bowl, add the drained potatoes and 1 stick of partially softened butter, cut into chunks.
Mash the potatoes and butter together until well combined.
Add 2/3 cup of milk to the potatoes, adjusting as needed for consistency.
Add 1 cup of the prepared gravy to the mashed potatoes and mix well.
Using a slotted spoon, add the drained corn to the mashed potatoes and mix until combined.
Add 2 cups of shredded rotisserie chicken to the mixture and stir well.
Taste the mixture and add more corn if desired, up to a total of 3 cups.
Add 1 tablespoon of chicken flavor bouillon powder and more black pepper to taste, mixing thoroughly.
Prepare trays for freeze drying, aiming for 2 and 12 lbs per tray, filling three trays total.
Once filled, freeze the trays until solid before placing them in the freeze dryer.
After freeze drying, package the bowls in meal pouches with O2 absorbers and seal them.
