Grilled Beef Roulade Skewers
Cultural Context
Originating from Germany, beef roulades are traditionally filled with a variety of ingredients and rolled up for cooking. These skewers offer a modern twist, making them perfect for grilling and sharing at gatherings. Today, they are enjoyed in various forms across the globe, often adapted with local flavors and ingredients.
Slice the beef flank steak into thin sheets, about 1/4 inch thick.
Season the beef slices with salt and black pepper on both sides.
Spread a thin layer of mustard over each slice of beef.
Lay strips of bacon on top of the mustard-coated beef.
Add finely chopped onion, garlic, and pickles evenly over the bacon.
Place thinly sliced carrots and bell pepper on top of the other fillings.
Roll each beef slice tightly from one end to the other, securing with toothpicks if necessary.
Thread the rolled beef onto skewers, securing each roulade in place.
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
Brush the skewers with olive oil to prevent sticking.
Grill the skewers for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the beef is cooked to your desired doneness.
Remove from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes.
Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce.
