1 lb dry black beans
2.5 quarts water
2 bay leaves
1 medium onion sliced in half, skin on
1 medium onion, chopped
8 garlic cloves finely minced
1 tablespoon oregano
2.5 tsp salt
1.5 packets Sazon Goya
2 sprigs rosemary
3 sage leaves
2 tbsp mild salsa or pico de gallo
1/4 tsp sugar
1 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp white vinegar
1 tbsp garlic powder

Soak the black beans overnight in water.

In a large pot, combine the soaked beans, 2.5 quarts of water, bay leaves, and the onion sliced in half.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until beans are tender.

Remove the onion and bay leaves, then add the chopped onion, minced garlic, oregano, salt, Sazon Goya, rosemary, sage, salsa, sugar, cumin, white vinegar, and garlic powder.

Stir well and simmer for additional flavor.
