Instructions
- 1Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 2In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
- 3In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 4In a greased baking dish, layer the blanched green beans evenly.
- 5Pour the cream mixture over the green beans, ensuring they are well coated.
- 6Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the green beans.
- 7In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle this mixture over the cheese layer.
- 8Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
- 9Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- 10Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Instructions
- 1Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
- 3In a large bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg.
- 4Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- 5Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the cheddar and Gruyère cheeses.
- 6Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses, finishing with the Parmesan on top.
- 7Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- 8Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender.
- 9Let the gratin cool for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh thyme if desired.
