Vendors skillfully prepare it by tossing and flipping the dough, creating a flaky texture that's perfect for wrapping around sweet fillings like bananas or drizzling with condensed milk. Today, it’s a staple in many Southeast Asian countries, showcasing the region's rich culinary fusion.

Sift 2.5 cups of all-purpose flour into a mixing bowl.
Make a crater in the center of the bowl and slowly pour in 1 cup of water, mixing with your hand.
Add in 1 beaten egg and knead into the dough.
Pour in 0.25 cup of melted margarine and knead the dough for a few minutes.
Brush a container with cooking oil and roll the dough into balls about the size of a tennis ball, aiming for 6 to 8 balls.
Coat the balls of dough with cooking oil to prevent sticking and set aside to rest for about 2 hours.
After 2 hours, brush cooking oil onto a plate and flatten one dough ball into a thin sheet using your hands.
Coat a frying pan with a small amount of melted margarine and fry the sheet of roti on both sides for a couple of minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Serve drizzled with condensed milk and sugar, or other toppings like chocolate or strawberry sauce.
