They symbolize home-cooked comfort and are often served during family gatherings and holidays. While they have roots in Eastern European cooking, variations can be found worldwide, showcasing local ingredients and flavors.

Cut around the core of the cabbage to remove it, making deep cuts to help remove the leaves easily.
Boil water and place the cabbage in it until the leaves become limp, then set aside.
Dice the onion and mushrooms, then fry them in oil until the onion is translucent and mushrooms are cooked down.
Add chopped garlic to the onion and mushrooms towards the end of cooking and mix well.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, veal, cooked rice, and the sautéed onion and mushroom mixture. Season with salt, pepper, and vegetable seasoning.
Taste the mixture to ensure seasoning is to your liking.
Prepare a grill-safe pan by reinforcing it to prevent leaking, then layer half of the tomato paste mixed with milk at the bottom.
Fill each cabbage leaf with about 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture, roll tightly, and place seam-side down in the pan.
Cover the rolls with the remaining tomato sauce mixture and any leftover cabbage leaves.
Preheat the grill to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and place the pan inside.
Cook for about 2 hours, checking for tenderness before serving.
