Start by mixing 1 bowl of shredded Cheddar cheese with 1 bowl of refried beans until it forms a sticky, gumby compound.

Add 3 cups of corn flour to the mixture.

Add 1 teaspoon of salt and stir it up a little bit.

Pour in 4 cups of water, measuring out 64 tablespoons.

Knead the dough until it reaches the right texture, adding more flour if necessary.

Take a ball of dough and flatten it into a pancake shape.

Make a well in the center of the flattened dough and add the filling.

Bring the edges of the dough up around the filling and pinch it closed, then flatten it back out into a pancake shape.

Brush a griddle with olive oil and place the pupusas on it.

Cook the pupusas for about 10 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
