1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp unsalted butter (for greasing)

1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

2

Grease a baking dish with butter.

3

Peel and thinly slice the potatoes (about 1/8 inch thick).

4

In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Heat over medium until just simmering, then remove from heat.

5

Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish, overlapping them slightly.

6

Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle half of the Gruyère cheese on top.

7

Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and Gruyère cheese. Finish with the grated Parmesan cheese on top.

8

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.

9

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender.

10

Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
