Turkey bacon reduces fat while maintaining flavor.

Olive oil provides healthy fats and is versatile.

Fill a large saucepan with cold water, enough to cover the meat.

Carefully drop the bacon into the pan and cover with a lid.

Bring the water to a boiling point.

Once boiling, remove the lid and skim off any white foam that appears on the surface.

Replace the lid and reduce to a simmer, cooking for about 60 minutes (30 minutes per 500g).

Prepare the cabbage by cutting off the end and slicing it into strips.

Place the cut cabbage into a colander and rinse thoroughly under a tap, then set aside to drain.

After the ham has cooked for about an hour, make space in the saucepan and add the cabbage.

Use a wooden spoon to mix the cabbage with the ham, allowing the fat from the ham to flavor the cabbage.

Simmer everything together for another 20 minutes with the lid off.

Carefully remove the ham from the saucepan and set aside to rest.

Drain the water from the cabbage again and allow it to drain completely.

Slice the ham into mini steaks and serve with the cabbage and potatoes.
