Heat canola oil in a heavy pot over low heat.
Add chopped onions and sauté until softened.

Add okra and cook with the garlic and onions until softened.
Pour in vegetable broth and add salt, black pepper, and coriander.
Add optional green hot pepper if desired.
Cover the pot and let it cook for 20-25 minutes.
Allow the soup to cool before transferring to a blender.
Blend the soup until smooth and creamy, adding fresh cilantro while blending.
Transfer the blended soup back to the pot to heat and adjust seasoning.
Prepare Tasha by heating a non-stick pan and adding oil and optional butter, then add coriander, black pepper, and crushed garlic until medium brown.
Add the Tasha to the simmering soup and stir in lemon juice.
