Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1/2 cup grated carrots
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp oil

Instructions

  1. 1In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead to form a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. 2In another bowl, heat oil over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until translucent.
  3. 3Add ginger paste and garlic paste, and sauté for another minute.
  4. 4Add chopped cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, and cilantro. Stir well and cook for 5-7 minutes until vegetables are slightly tender.
  5. 5Season the mixture with soy sauce, black pepper, and red chili powder. Mix well and remove from heat. Let it cool.
  6. 6Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a thin circle on a floured surface.
  7. 7Place a spoonful of the vegetable filling in the center of each circle.
  8. 8Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to form a pleated pouch. Pinch to seal tightly.
  9. 9Prepare a steamer and steam the momos for about 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
  10. 10Serve hot with dipping sauce or chutney.
