frozen roasted eel
parchment paper
1.5 cups water
4g hondashi powder
1 teaspoon mirin
1 teaspoon soy sauce
2 packages HOA green tea
3 cups cooked white rice
1-2 tablespoons foodi kake
1-2 tablespoons oazuke wakame
finely chopped green onions

unagi (grilled eel)

🥗Healthier: grilled chicken

💰Cheaper: grilled tofu

Grilled chicken offers a leaner protein option, while grilled tofu is a plant-based alternative.

1

Remove the frozen roasted eel from the package and place it onto an oven-safe baking dish.

2

Flip the eel onto parchment paper and then back over so the nice side is up.

3

Brush the excess sauce from the package onto the eel using a brush.

4

Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the eel for 18 minutes.

5

While the eel is baking, prepare the oazuke broth by bringing 1.5 cups of water to a boil.

6

Add 4g of hondashi powder to the boiling water and stir to dissolve completely.

7

Add 1 teaspoon of mirin and 1 teaspoon of soy sauce to the broth and stir to combine.

8

Turn off the heat and add 2 packages of HOA green tea to the pot, allowing it to steep for about 5 minutes.

9

Remove the eel from the oven and cut it into equal portion sizes.

10

In a bowl, mix 3 cups of cooked white rice with 1-2 tablespoons of foodi kake and 1-2 tablespoons of oazuke wakame.

11

In each serving bowl, add the desired amount of rice and mound it together using a rice paddle.

12

Optionally, brush some unagi sauce from the eel over the rice to help keep the unagi from slipping later.

13

Generously portion the unagi on top of the rice in each bowl.

14

Garnish with finely chopped green onions.

15

Add 1 and 1/4 cups of the oazuke broth to each serving.
