Avocado oil offers health benefits while canola oil is more budget-friendly.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

Brush a large metal baking tray with 1 tablespoon of oil.

Take 700 grams of floury potatoes and cut them into strips about 1 cm thick, leaving the skin on.

Sprinkle the sliced potatoes with 1 tablespoon of cornflour and toss to coat evenly.

Transfer the potatoes to the oiled baking tray.

Sprinkle on 0.5 teaspoon each of salt, pepper, and paprika.

Drizzle on 3 tablespoons of oil and mix everything together with your hands.

Arrange the chips in a single layer on the tray, ensuring they are not touching too much.

Cover the tray with a piece of greased foil and place in the oven for 10 minutes.

Remove the foil and cook for a further 10 minutes.

Turn the fries over using a spatula and cook for an additional 5 to 10 minutes until golden brown and crisp.

Transfer the chips to a serving dish.
