Place a saucepan on medium heat.
Add 3 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter and allow it to melt.
Add the finely chopped onion and crushed garlic to the pan and stir.
Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the onions are soft and transparent.
Add the 400 g of tinned plum tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of oregano, 1 teaspoon of basil, and 1 tablespoon of tomato puree to the pan.
Season with salt and pepper and stir well.
Bring the sauce to a boil, then turn down the heat to a simmer.
Leave the sauce to cook for 20 minutes.
Allow the sauce to cool before using for pizzas; it can be eaten straight away if used for pasta.
