Part-skim mozzarella has fewer calories, while cottage cheese offers a creamy texture at a lower cost.

Rinse the hasselback tomatoes under water.

Slice the tomatoes almost all the way through several times, leaving about a centimeter between slices.

Place a piece of mozzarella in between each slice of tomato.

Drizzle olive oil on top of the assembled tomatoes and mozzarella.

Add fresh basil leaves to the dish.

Sprinkle a little salt and pepper on top.

Drizzle balsamic vinegar over the dish.

Serve the hasselback tomato caprese.
