Start with a pan on medium heat and add 1.5 pounds of sliced mushrooms and 1 large chopped onion without any oil.
Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 15-20 minutes, allowing the mushrooms to steam in their own juices.
After 20 minutes, check the mixture; it should be slightly sticky but still have some moisture.
Add 0.5 cup of butter to the pan and melt it.
Once the butter is melted, stir in 2 tablespoons of flour to thicken the mixture.
Add 1 cup of whipping cream and 1 cup of sour cream, stirring to combine, and let it simmer for a few minutes until it thickens.
Add between 0.25 to 0.5 cup of chopped parsley, 0.5 teaspoon of nutmeg, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 0.5 teaspoon of black pepper to the mixture and stir well.
Transfer the mushroom mixture to a well-greased pan.
In a separate frying pan, melt another 0.25 cup of butter and add 0.5 cup of bread crumbs, mixing until partially browned.
Sprinkle the bread crumb mixture over the top of the mushroom mixture in the pan.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 5-10 minutes until the top is browned.
