Mix yellow precooked cornmeal, all-purpose flour, white sugar, and salt in a bowl.
Add grated queso fresco, melted butter, and whole milk to the dry mixture and stir well.
Knead the mixture by hand until a soft and smooth dough forms, adding more milk if needed.
Divide the dough into portions and shape each portion into a small ball.
Press the center of each ball with your thumbs to create a small cup.
Fill each cup with about 1 to 2 tablespoons of cheese and seal the edges together.
Shape the filled dough into a ball again and flatten it into a small arepa.
Melt butter in a non-stick pan and grill the arepas for about 4 to 5 minutes per side over medium heat until golden brown.
Grill the edges of the arepas using a spatula and tongs.
