Cut bacon into small pieces and cook in a 10-inch pan until crispy; pour off some grease if desired.
Add hamburger meat to the pan and cook in the bacon grease.
Drain the canned beans and add them to the pan.
Add 1 cup of ketchup and 1 cup of brown sugar to the pan.
Add 1 tablespoon of liquid smoke and 1 tablespoon of vinegar to the pan.
Chop onion using an onion chopper and add to the mixture.
Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Mix all ingredients thoroughly in the pan.
Prepare charcoal for cooking: 14 briquettes on top and 7 on the bottom.
Cook the mixture using the charcoal method.
