unsalted butter

all-purpose flour

Whole wheat flour adds fiber and nutrients, while cake flour is usually cheaper.

Honey is a natural sweetener, while brown sugar can be less expensive.
cold water
Measure out 1 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour and add to a bowl.
Add 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt to the flour and mix.
Cut 1/2 cup (1 stick) of cold unsalted butter into pieces and add to the dry mixture.
Mash the butter into the flour mixture until pieces are no bigger than an almond.
Add 4 tablespoons of cold water and 1 tablespoon of vodka to the mixture.
Use a fork to mix the ingredients without activating gluten too much.
Dump the mixture onto plastic wrap and bring it together into a disc, pressing it down.
Wrap the disc in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, remove the crust from the refrigerator and roll it out on a floured surface.
