Stoneground Grits

Cultural Context

Originating from the Southern United States, stoneground grits are a staple in Southern cuisine, often served as a side dish or breakfast item. Traditionally made from coarsely ground corn, they embody the region's agricultural heritage and are celebrated for their creamy texture and versatility. Today, grits have gained popularity beyond the South, appearing on menus across the country in various forms, from savory to sweet.
