Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. 1In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. 2In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. 3Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture.
  4. 4Mix until a dough begins to form.
  5. 5Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. 6Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  7. 7Once risen, punch down the dough to release air.
  8. 8Divide the dough into two equal portions for two pizzas or keep it whole for one large pizza.
  9. 9Shape the dough into a ball and let it rest for another 10-15 minutes before rolling out.
  10. 10Roll out the dough to your desired thickness and shape for your pizza.

  2. 2In a separate bowl, mix the sourdough starter with the water until well combined.
  3. 3Pour the sourdough mixture into the flour mixture and stir until a rough dough forms.
  4. 4Add the olive oil and knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. 5Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise at room temperature for 4-6 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. 6Once risen, punch down the dough to release the air and divide it into 2-4 equal portions depending on the desired pizza size.
  7. 7Shape each portion into a ball and let them rest for another 30 minutes, covered with a cloth.
  8. 8Preheat your oven to the highest setting (usually around 250°C or 482°F) with a pizza stone inside if you have one.
  9. 9Roll out each dough ball on a floured surface to your desired thickness and shape.
  10. 10Top with your favorite pizza toppings and bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes until the crust is golden and crispy.
