Ham Katsu

Cultural Context

Originating in Japan, Ham Katsu is a delightful variation of the traditional Tonkatsu, which features breaded and fried pork cutlets. This dish is often enjoyed as a comforting meal, served with shredded cabbage and a tangy sauce. In modern cuisine, Ham Katsu has gained popularity for its simplicity and is now a beloved option in many Japanese households and restaurants worldwide.

4 servings
Servings4
500 grams CDO Holiday Ham (sliced (1-inch thick))
1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 egg (beaten)
1 ½ cups cooking oil
1 teaspoon granulated white sugar
2 tablespoons banana ketchup
1 teaspoon oyster sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1

Heat cooking oil in a pan.

2

Dredge a slice of CDO Holiday Ham in flour, then dip it in beaten egg. Make sure that all the sides are completely coated before dredging the ham into the breadcrumbs. Note: you should press the breadcrumbs gently so that it holds better.

3

Deep-fry your ham katsu until the bottom side turns golden brown. Flip it over and do the same step. Remove from the pan and let it cool down.

4

Meanwhile, make the sauce by combining all the tonkatsu sauce ingredients. Mix well.

5

Arrange the ham katsu with garnish on a serving plate. Serve with homemade tonkatsu sauce. Share and enjoy!
