Add black eyed peas, chopped onion, celery, minced garlic, bay leaf, and deseeded jalapeno to the pot with ham hocks.

Season with black pepper and no salt garlic and herb seasoning; mix well.

Cover and bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.

Cook for about 1 hour until peas are tender, stirring every 30 minutes and adding more water or chicken broth if needed.

Remove the ham hocks, shred the meat, and return it to the pot.

Remove the bay leaf and taste the peas, adjusting seasoning as needed.
