Frozen cranberries are often more affordable and can be used year-round.

1

Gather a 2.5 Qt sauce pot.

2

Add 16 oz of frozen cranberries or 12 oz of fresh cranberries to the pot.

3

Pour in 0.5 cup of orange juice.

4

Add 2-3 dashes of ground ginger and 2-3 dashes of ground clove to the pot.

5

Turn the burner to medium high and stir to combine.

6

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to a simmer and cover, cooking for 10 minutes.

7

Halfway through, use a spoon to smash the cranberries, then cover and continue cooking for the remaining 5 minutes.

8

After cooking, remove from heat and check that most cranberries have popped and the mixture is thick.

9

Blend the mixture using an immersion blender or regular blender until as smooth as possible, leaving some skins and seeds.

10

Prepare a clean saucepot and a fine mesh sieve to strain the cranberry sauce.

11

Pour the sauce into the sieve in batches, using a spoon or spatula to press it through.

12

Once all the sauce is strained, clean up the sauce from the bottom of the strainer and add it back to the saucepot.

13

Add 1 cup of granulated white sugar to the strained sauce and mix until dissolved.

14

Turn the burner to medium high heat and bring the sauce to a light simmer, cooking for about 3 minutes before turning off the heat.

15

Prepare two 8 oz jars or any container for molding the sauce, ensuring they are flat inside.

16

Fill the molds with the cranberry sauce, shaking to remove air bubbles, and clean the tops.

17

Cover the molds with lids or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

18

To unmold, place the molds in a hot water bath for 30 seconds to a minute.

19

Use a butter knife or straight-sided spatula to separate the sauce from the sides of the jar before removing it.

20

Slice the jellied cranberry sauce and enjoy.
