1 lb smoked turkey tails
4 cups chicken broth
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon no salt garlic and herb seasoning
2 tablespoons cornstarch
6 cups water

Sort through pinto beans to remove any bad beans or rocks.

Soak the beans overnight in water, about an inch above the beans.

Drain and rinse the soaked beans.

Add the beans, onions, bell peppers, garlic, bay leaf, and smoked turkey tails to the slow cooker.

Pour in chicken broth and mix in seasonings (onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, no salt garlic and herb seasoning).

Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 3 to 4 hours or low for 6 to 7 hours, checking every 30 minutes until tender.

Remove the bay leaf and smoked turkey tails; shred the meat and return it to the slow cooker.

To thicken, smash a couple of beans against the side of the slow cooker or add a cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water) and cook on high for an additional 5 to 10 minutes.
