Start by measuring 1 and 3/4 cup of cake flour.
Add 1 teaspoon of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the flour and sift them together.
In a separate bowl, add 1 stick of butter and 3/4 cup of sugar, and mix together with a hand mixer.
Add 2 eggs directly into the butter and sugar mixture and mix again.
Stir in 3 tablespoons of sour cream and 1/4 cup of milk into the mixture.
Add 1/2 ounce of finely grated Parmesan cheese to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Prepare a 9 by 9 inch baking pan by greasing it with shortening and lining it with parchment paper.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 30 to 40 minutes, checking at 30 minutes for doneness with a toothpick.
After baking, let the cake cool for a while in the pan before flipping it out onto a plate.
Before baking, sprinkle 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds on top of the batter.
