Go to your butcher and ask for top round cut beef sliced thin for rouladen.
Lay out the beef slices and sprinkle a pinch of mustard seed on them.
Add pepper and finely chopped onions on top of the mustard seed.
Sprinkle salt over the onions.
Place a piece of bacon on each slice of beef.
Roll the beef from one end to the other, enclosing the bacon and other ingredients.
Heat a pan and add margarine (or oil) until hot.
Place the rolled beef in the hot pan and sauté it, browning each side for about 5 minutes to sear the meat.
Cover the pan and simmer the beef for about 2 hours.
After simmering, you can add a little flour to the sauce to thicken it up if desired.
Serve the rouladen with noodles, and optionally add gravy on top.
