Miso Glazed Onions

Boil water.
Add miso paste, butter, and sugar to the boiling water and whisk everything together.
Peel and half the onions or shallots.
Place the halved onions or shallots into a roasting tin.
Pour the miso mixture over the onions or shallots.
Cover the roasting tin tightly with tin foil.
Place the roasting tin in the oven and cook for about 30 minutes.
Remove the foil, turn over the onions, and return to the oven for another 30 minutes.
