Return the partially cooked bacon to the mixture and stir in any remaining bacon grease for added flavor.
Transfer the mixture to a cast-iron skillet and place it on a preheated grill.
Add wood chips to the grill for smoking and cover the skillet.
Let it smoke uncovered for about 15 to 30 minutes, checking occasionally to ensure it doesn't dry out.
After 45 minutes, check the beans for doneness and remove from the grill.
