Homemade whipped cream can be more economical and healthier.
Set up the boxes of jell-o in the order of cherry, lime, strawberry, raspberry, lime, and strawberry.
Prepare a 9 by 11 glass casserole dish, a large measuring cup, and two bowls.
In the large measuring cup, add 1 cup of boiling water and stir in the first box of jell-o until dissolved.
Divide the jell-o mixture between two bowls.
In the first bowl, add 1/3 cup of cold water, stir, and pour it into the casserole dish.
Transfer the dish to the refrigerator and chill for about 15 to 20 minutes.
In the second bowl, add 1/3 cup of sour cream and whisk until fully blended with the gelatin until clear.
Once the first layer has chilled, pour the sour cream mixture over it and return the dish to the refrigerator.
Repeat the process: for the next layer, add boiling water to the second box of jell-o, stir, divide between two bowls, and add 1/3 cup of cold water to one bowl, pouring it into the dish after the previous layer has set.
Continue alternating layers of jell-o and sour cream for about three and a half hours until all layers are set.
Once completely set, cut the jell-o salad with a sharp knife and serve generous portions.
