Wash the asparagus under running water to remove dirt.
Store asparagus upright in a container with a couple inches of water if not cooking immediately.
Fill a pan with about an inch of water and place a steamer on top.
Add about a third of the asparagus to the steamer and cover with a lid.
Bring the water to a boil on high heat, then reduce to medium and steam for about 10 minutes until tender.
For roasting, preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
Place another third of the asparagus on a parchment-lined baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and Parmesan cheese.
Roll the asparagus to coat evenly, then roast in the oven for 10-15 minutes until tender-crisp, tossing halfway through cooking.
For grilling, wrap bundles of asparagus with bacon and secure with toothpicks.
Drizzle the bundles with olive oil and place them on a copper grilling sheet.
Preheat the grill to medium heat (about 350°F) and grill the asparagus bundles until the bacon is cooked and the asparagus is tender.
