Rinse the French green beans and set them to drain.
In a bowl, combine 1/4 teaspoon of maple syrup, 1 tablespoon of lime juice, and 1 tablespoon of low sodium soy sauce.
Mix the liquid ingredients together.
In another bowl, combine 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder, and a dash of cayenne pepper.
Mix the dry ingredients together.
Chop 2 fresh dates into fine cubes and add them to a bowl.
Add a couple of splashes of liquid smoke to the chopped dates and stir to combine.
Prepare a non-stick pan and heat it to medium-high.
Add the rinsed green beans to the hot pan and toss them with tongs.
Cook the green beans for about 10 to 15 minutes, tossing occasionally until they start to soften and char slightly.
Once the green beans are at the desired texture, add the soaked dates to the pan and stir them in.
Turn off the heat and add the mixed liquid ingredients to the pan with the green beans and dates, stirring to combine.
