1

Heat 1/4 cup of water to 90 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

2

In a mixing bowl, combine the heated water with 1 package of yeast and 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt, mixing well.

3

If you don't have buttermilk, prepare 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of vinegar and warm it to 90 to 110 degrees.

4

In a separate bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.

5

Add the yeast mixture and 2 tablespoons of honey to the flour mixture.

6

Cut in 1 stick of cold butter and gently fold the mixture until just combined.

7

Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap and let it rest for about 1 hour.

8

Prepare an egg wash by mixing 1 egg with 1 teaspoon of water and set aside.

9

After the dough has rested, generously flour a surface and place the dough in the center.

10

Gently press the dough a couple of times to flatten it to about 1 to 1.5 inches thick.

11

Cut out biscuits by pressing straight down with a cutter without twisting, and place them on a baking sheet without touching each other.

12

Brush the tops of the biscuits with the egg wash.

13

Bake in a preheated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 to 12 minutes.

14

Once baked, smother the biscuits with butter immediately after removing them from the oven.
